Project Overview
Khmer Maine is leading the development of Maine’s first Asian American Community Center—a bold and historic initiative that will serve as a cultural and intergenerational hub for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities across the state. The proposed project is an $8 million capital campaign that will fund the planning, design, and construction of the center on a 30-acre site in Westbrook, Maine, generously made available by our partner, Watt Samaki.
We are seeking a qualified Capital Campaign Consultant to conduct a feasibility study that will assess our organization’s readiness to undertake a campaign of this scale, engage key stakeholders and potential donors, and make strategic recommendations for campaign structure, messaging, and leadership.
Scope of Work
The selected consultant will be expected to:
Conduct a Feasibility Study, including interviews with prospective donors, community leaders, and stakeholders.
Prioritize community-centric fundraising values within a capital campaign framework, especially when partnering with underserved communities.
Assess Organizational Readiness for an $8 million capital campaign, including leadership, staffing, and systems.
Evaluate Case for Support and recommend refinements for clarity, resonance, and philanthropic alignment.
Identify Lead Gift and Major Gift Potential based on conversations and early interest.
Deliver a Final Report with findings, analysis, and actionable recommendations, including:
Projected fundraising potential
Recommended campaign structure and timeline
Staffing needs and support requirements
Identification of risks and mitigation strategies
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:
Proven experience conducting successful capital campaign feasibility studies
Deep knowledge of philanthropic trends and campaign best practices
Familiarity with grassroots organizations, cultural communities, and BIPOC-led initiatives
Excellent communication, interviewing, and stakeholder engagement skills
Sensitivity and cultural fluency when working with diverse AANHPI communities
